Odyssey News Reader, ONR for short, is a new lightweight, innovative technology for reading online print media in an highly functional and ergonomic digital format.

Odyssey News Reader strives to deliver to the astute reader a unique, renewed experience beyond the usual browsing of the outdated and aging format still used prevalently by the digital written press and online news.

Odyssey News Reader provides the reader with an elegant web user interface packed with a wealth of modern technologies and user-friendly features found in no other software in that class of products.

As of today, there still is no equivalent to Odyssey News Reader on the market.

Behind the scene

Odyssey News Reader journals are Single Page HTML Applications

Odyssey News Reader journals comprise all the necessary resources, mainly CSS4 and javascript libraries, and exploit the HTML5 "Cache manifest" feature, to work offline and be be totally autonomous without loss of content or ergonomic behavior.

Odyssey News Reader journals are transfered in an highly compressed format which is expanded on the fly as it is received by the browser.

Then, a just-in-time utimate compilation stage takes place within the browser to produce the final ONR Document Object Model that renders the graphical user interface you see.

Be curious, save the html file, then have a look at it. You'll be surprised what 150 KB can hold !

Try it online

We suggest that you play with the bookmarks as you go , that is:

Open one journal, bookmarks some articles (try creating your own folders and comments), then close the journal (The bookmarks panel is available by clicking the greyish arrow icon on the right of the main panel).
Repeat the process for each of the samples.
Close all the tabs.
Now, choose one article and open it.
Go to the bookmarks panel
Try selecting any bookmark...
